Despite trying to write off Detroit sports, videos like this one have me excited for the Stones' season all over again. Found it on Need4Sheed.

The end of minutes?
I predict that in the next five years most mobile phone users won't have minutes or voice usage as part of their mobile plans. People will just sign up for an unlimited data package and use VoIP to make mobile calls. This will be helped along by the increasing presence of Wi-Fi and the new Wimax network that Sprint is rolling out. This will make shopping for a carrier much easier as you'll basically have one price point to compare and be able to weigh that data point against customer service and coverage from the carrier.
While there are a lot of emerging mobile VoIP providers, I really think Skype is well positioned to take this on. Too bad carriers will try to keep them off of devices for as long as possible. But here's a question - if Apple's new iPod Touch devices had Wi-Fi and Mac OS and a microphone (which I don't think it does), why not just install Skype and call away? Maybe you could keep a cheaper plan on a separate device for when you're not in Wi-Fi land or maybe even prepaid.
Anyway, I think a lot of change is coming and I'm interested to see how the carriers will respond. Not in favor of the consumer, I would imagine.

Back to posting here?
Not that I post much other than status updates on Twitter and Facebook, but I figure I might as well decide on where I'd want to post if I were ever to decide to do so. I think Tumblr is just a little too limited for what I want, which is basically just widgets in the sidebar. However, I love that my Twitter posts show up as blog posts over there. Somebody needs to teach me to do the same thing here. So anyway, I think I'll come back here and hopefully post some more.

Mobile post
You know, I haven't sent a post from a mobile device in a really long time. Certainly not since I turned my Moto Q in for a BlackBerry. So I finally got around to figuring out how to do it. First, I got my secret email address to autopost to the blog and put it in my address book. Then I created a new vzw.blackberry.net email account so I could have an account on my BlackBerry with no signature. This post is the result.
Who knows, maybe I will post more this way.

Vegas was grand
So a bunch of friends went to Vegas a couple of weeks ago to surprise Shan for his birthday. Truth be told, few of us mind going to Vegas because the magical city always provides Great Times and we love going there as a group. The photo album can be found here. Here are some pics:

Flesh Out vs. Flush Out
Thought I used this incorrectly today, but according to this random website:
To “flesh out” an idea is to give it substance, as a sculptor adds clay flesh to a skeletal armature. To “flush out” a criminal is to drive him or her out into the open. The latter term is derived from bird-hunting, in which one flushes out a covey of quail. If you are trying to develop something further, use “flesh”; but if you are trying to reveal something hitherto concealed, use “flush.”I was talking about "flushing" out facts during diligence, so I guess I had it right.

(More) Future Trends: You Heard It Here First
Mark my words: Members Only is on the way back. Members Only's unique, classy, retro 80's style jackets will rule the day in the spring of 2008.
An old school calculator watch makes a great accessory for your new Members Only jacket.
Since I'm always ahead of the trend curve, I'm rocking a light gray beauty with scarlet trim similar in style to the jacket in the picture.

We're Going to Harvard!
We're going to Harvard! I use the term "we" quite generously, because it is my wife alone that has been accepted into the Harvard Business School class of 2009. Since no one actually gets Gujral Family updates from this site, you all already know that we'll be moving to Boston this summer. It will be very sad to leave the beautiful Bay Area, but I'm ecstatic about Nikita going to HBS and so Boston here we come. It will be nice since we have family and friends already in or moving to Boston.

I can't wait for the iPhone
After following engadget's coverage all morning, I am damn excited about this. Not sure how I'll ever get it, however, because I can't stand Cingular.
